The official reason for the persecution of the accused in Crimea under Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code is that they did not appear voluntarily in the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation and did not declare their participation in the Crimean Tatar Voluntary Battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan. The declared proof of the battalion's activity against the interests of the Russian Federation is the information from the mass media that the purpose of the battalion's creation was the deoccupation of Crimea.
Based on the fact that the reason for persecution is membership in an organization that aims to deoccupy Crimea and does not accept students in armed conflict, persecution in the form of imprisonment can be considered as politically motivated persecution.
